As a Shipping Clerk at our Chicago Box plant, you’ll be at the center of our shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy, safety, and top-notch service for internal teams and truck drivers alike. Location: Chicago, IL Shift: 2nd Shift - 10:00 am to 6:00 pm  Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour + shift differential How You Will Contribute: * Shipping Coordination: Communicate daily with customer service, purchasing, and production to coordinate shipping schedules and notify teams of any delays. * Equipment Oversight: Prepare work orders and coordinate repairs for trucks, trailers, forklifts, dock plates, and doors. * Inventory & Documentation: Perform blind counts using documentation to verify quantities, lot codes, and part numbers. Identify and resolve quantity or part number discrepancies. * Material Handling: Ensure safe, accurate, and efficient loading/unloading and storage of all incoming materials and finished goods. * Order Accuracy: Inspect shipments and carrier equipment for damage and verify that outbound shipments meet customer requirements. * Custom Packaging: Build custom skids and adjust packaging based on customer specifications. * Shipment Tracking & Paperwork: Track shipments, complete bills of lading, customs forms, and other shipping documents via carrier systems. * System Updates: Move materials within the warehouse and update inventory systems in real time. * Additional Support: Perform other related duties as assigned to support logistics and warehouse operations. What It Takes: * High school diploma or GED required * Minimum 2 years of experience in shipping and forklift operations * Ability to read and write detailed instructions and memos * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Self-starter with excellent organizational and teamwork abilities * Willingness to work overtime during peak periods * Forklift operation experience required * Reliable attendance and physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, as well as perform standing, walking, reaching, and climbing duties Why You’ll Love Working at Hood Container: * Competitive Pay & Benefits: We offer strong compensation and a full benefits package to support your well-being.
