Description Job Summary The Shipping Clerk is responsible for packaging and shipping products using various carriers, including UPS, FedEx, and USPS. This role ensures accurate documentation, tracking, and compliance with shipping procedures for domestic and international shipments. The Shipping Clerk also assists with maintaining organized records and may support other inspection and packaging functions as needed. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare and package parts for shipment according to company and customer standards. Enter and retrieve information in the computer system for accurate shipment processing. Maintain shipping records, files, and tracking documents for all shipments. Coordinate with carriers and internal teams to resolve issues such as damages, shortages, or order discrepancies. Determine the most efficient and cost-effective shipping methods based on procedures, routes, and rates. Ensure compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations and documentation requirements. Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly handle shipping equipment. Assist with product inspection, waste stripping, and additional packaging tasks as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but is expected to follow all company policies, safety guidelines, and quality procedures. Required Skills & Competencies: Strong attention to detail to ensure shipping accuracy and proper documentation. Basic math skills for counting and verifying shipment quantities. Above-average hand-eye coordination for packaging and labeling tasks. Proficiency with computers and software such as FileMaker, email applications, and labeling systems. Ability to read and follow Work Order packets and shipping standards. Strong sense of quality control to ensure shipments meet customer specifications. Effective organizational skills to manage shipping documents and maintain accurate records. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and judgment skills to address shipping issues. Ability to interact effectively with all departments and collaborate with various teams. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Prior shipping experience preferred, but not required. Familiarity with domestic and international shipping procedures is a plus. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and work orders. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with carriers and internal teams. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions. Capability to problem-solve minor shipping or packaging issues with minimal supervision. Requirements This is a full-time, Monday–Friday role scheduled 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with occasional overtime (early starts or late finishes) based on production needs. Candidates should have reliable transportation, strong attention to detail, and solid time-management skills. We’re looking for a self-motivated individual who can work independently and stay on task without close supervision. Experience with mail systems, shipping scales, and basic computer use is preferred.
