Description POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Shipping Coordinator /Storeroom Sup. REPORTS TO: Purchasing Manager LOCATION: Raeford, NC STATUS: Exempt AREA: Purchasing POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily inventory management and logistics functions. This list is not in inclusive, and duties may change as directed by business needs. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The incumbent has responsibility to execute manufacturing schedules based on requirements from management: · Arrange logistics for inbound material in coordination with suppliers, buyers, truckers, forwarders. · Arrange logistics for outbound material in coordination with project managers, customers, manufacturing, truckers. · Communicate internally to get correct pick list, shipment value and send detailed RFQ to truckers for suitable vehicles including rail cars. · Receive quotes, evaluate bidder’s capabilities, insurance arrangements and release purchase order for each project. · Execute rate contracts, agreements for various needs of inbound and outbound logistics. · Monitors freight movement using various computer software applications. · Oversees the daily workflow, schedules, and assignments of the shipping and receiving dock. · Oversees and evaluates all activities of the dock and dock employees, ensuring safe and efficient loading and unloading of all freight. · Arrange movement of received material to respective inventory and shop floor locations. · Maintains records of goods that have been ordered and corresponding shipping dates. · Confirms shipping dates with vendors. · Monitors shipping notices to avoid potential problems with deliveries. · Schedules shipments to ensure delivery by promised deadlines. · Receives orders and assigns shipments to appropriate carriers. · Reports major shipping problems to purchasing agent. · Consults with production planning team to plan deliveries for the next day. · Monitor various scrap generated within company, make necessary arrangement for scrap collection to handle scrap disposal efficiently. · Monitors inventory via an enterprise resource planning system or similar control system. · Assists with order status inquiries and special customer needs. · Resolves delivery problems. · Analyzes inventory procedures; recommends updates and improvements to purchasing manager. · Conducts daily inspections, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and internal laws, regulations, and policies. · Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. · All other duties as assigned. . Knowledge, Skills & Competencies · Strong supervisory and leadership skills. · Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. · Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines. · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. · Basic understanding of truck freight rates. · Strong understanding of applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements and other related safety policies and best practices. · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to monitor and maintain records and inventory. Education and Experience • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Two years of related experience highly preferred Physical Job Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, bend, and stoop. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. May need a high level of concentration in a busy area. Working Conditions Monday through Friday and on-call may be required.
