Our mission: To provide the best value to our clients through quality products, honest people, industry-leading practices and a commitment to excellence in animal care and all we do Core Values: Trust, Teamwork, Integrity, Commitment, and Respect General Responsibilities/Job Summary Responsible for managing all aspects of shipping & warehouse department through the direction of personnel to ensure all procedures are followed in compliance with Company policies (i.e. SOPs, GMPs, etc.) and Federal and State regulations (i.e. USDA, OSHA, etc.) while achieving the highest level of productivity and maintaining customer specifications and satisfaction. Essential Functions/Duties Supervise department by establishing procedures and adjusting as necessary to meet shipping schedules, increase efficiencies and meet or exceed goals. Oversee the day-to-day activities of the department to ensure efficient transportation and storage of materials used and produced by production lines and the safe and efficient loading and unloading of product to reduce risk of contamination and damage Identify and communicate opportunities for process optimization and/or reduce/eliminate repeat deficiencies (i.e. hold product, accidents, downtime, etc.) Mentor, coach and train/ cross-train employees encouraging career development; provide consistent, constructive feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement Administer performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions on a fair and consistent basis as directed by department manager and human resources Follow and promote all safety initiatives, (i.e. wear and ensure others wear appropriate PPE in area where mandatory) helping to maintain a zero-accident culture Ensure department, docks and storage facilities are organized and maintained according to guidelines/procedures Work corroboratively with other departments/shifts ensuring departmental or location goals are met or exceeded Learn, understand and use the inventory management system (Canopy) All other duties as assigned Requirements Qualifications and Skills: Servant type leadership required. Must be able to uphold our companies core values of integrity, trust, commitment, teamwork, and respect. Candidates must have previous proven leadership experience managing a team in a fast paced, environment 3+ years’ experience working in a shipping/receiving department is preferred not required Shipping & leadership experience required. Strong desire to train and coach others to improve performance Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement preferred A high level of personal integrity (self-esteem, confidence, honesty, and respect) are necessary qualities Self-motivated to work independently in a busy environment with changing priorities and the ability to adapt Working with LTL and truckload carriers and interacting with drivers required.
