Description
Position Title: Shipping Lead Reports To: Shipping Manager   Summary: Oversee Shipping department activities using the most cost effective methods possible while meeting customer delivery expectations.   Key Responsibilities: * Assisting in unloading and loading of trailers to ensure deliveries are timely. * Maintaining the trailer organization and updating the location board daily, including information like empty, unload, and available. * Filling in for the Shipping clerk when needed (training will be provided). * Maintaining all records for forklifts and other equipment on site. * This includes submitting maintenance request when needed, making sure the equipment is cleaned and blown out, and maintaining general appearance and care of records. * Auditing and verifying all dock equipment, including load levelers, is safe and in working condition. * If any repairs or maintenance are needed, contacting the facility maintenance rep and making a request for the needed repairs. * Keeping track of all repairs and follow up to making sure they are completed. * Maintaining the general facility common areas. * This includes the break room, hallways, 1st floor office, and bathrooms. * Assisting with inventory * Overseeing and conducting weekly cycle counts following Pratt policy and processes. * Overseeing site safety, acting as the liaison for the Safety Manager. * This includes conducting any needed safety training * Maintaining signature sheets and documents * Making sure PPE is always available on site * Being available to present any Safety Stand downs when needed * When freezing weather is possible, ensuring the facility is salted and cleared of snow   * Making sure trash bins are cycled to and from the warehouse   Education and/or Experience: * High School diploma or GED * Able to speak, read, comprehend and write legibly in English * Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy * Qualified Shipping Forklift Operator  Candidates are preferred who offer the following: * One year experience as a Forklift Operator * Supervisory experience as a proven manager/leader   Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.   Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
