Under the direction of the Distribution Supervisor, the Distribution Lead will develop and communicate daily work assignments within the department; possess a good understanding of UPS small parcel and shipping operations and related processes; performs direct work demonstrating the ability to perform any of the various operations within the Distribution group. Interacts with other departments to resolve problems that interfere with productivity and/or distribution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ability to perform duties as described for a Material Handler 1, 2, and 3 Ability to perform duties of a UPS Clerk and Shipping Clerk Conducting training for new or less experienced. Verify accuracy of UPS clerk and material loader functions to ensure accuracy of UPS,FTL and LTL shipping. Inspection of trailers before loading Properly stage and identify each outbound shipment. Audit of outbound material for quality and quantity Identify ways to assist in reducing shipping costs. Ensure all material is properly stacked, wrapped, and labeled per customer requirements. Develops and communicates daily workload/tasks assignments to department. Ability to understand and implement regulations and compliance in transporting goods. Ensures all departmental and company procedures are followed. Skills, Education, and/or Experience Requires proven leadership ability and strong communication skills. Must be tolerant of differences, a good listener, able to manage conflict, prioritize time, resources and goals. Requires an ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to motivate self and others to achieve the company’s goals on safety, quality, and productivity. Must be dependable, accurate, customer oriented, and possess a strong work ethic. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills to support the departmental and company’s goals. Must be able to work independently without direct supervision. HS Diploma or equivalent Four years’ experience working in Materials and Shipping applications. Requires a working knowledge of the ERP/MRP Shipping modules.
