How You’ll Perform the Role
The Shipping Manager is directly accountable and responsible for the management of distribution/warehousing activities of the facility. The facility Shipping Manager will continuously review all the operational processes, systems, assets, and methodologies of the plant and will develop a strategic and tactical operational plan which aligns with the objectives and strategies of the Company’s annual business plan and budget.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

Perpetual assessment and adjustment of current strategies, systems, procedures, performance, capabilities, equipment, facilities, and people to maintain and enhance safety, production, service, quality, and profitability.

  • Oversight of all Quality, Distribution, and Warehousing activities in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Oversee/confirm invoice process and order planning.
  • Promote strategies designed to improve service, quality, and product value.
  • Communicate with operations team regarding scheduling conflicts and allocate orders in MRP system.
  • Resolve problems/ collaborate concerning transportation, logistic systems, or customer issues.
  • Input information into sales orders and related customer information into applicable systems along with investigating problems related to shipment of products, credits, new orders, and other customer-related matters.
  • Ability to input data quickly and accurately into computer software applications (ERP (PRMS), TMS applications, TRANSPLACE web application)
  • Knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, transportation operations, order management, performance metrics, costs, and other techniques
  • Direct and coordinate inventory control functions and material management including cycle count personnel.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional initiatives aimed at driving excellence through lean and other operational excellence methodologies
  • Any other duties as assigned by leadership.

What We Need From You

CRITICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A master’s degree in business administration preferred.
  • Understanding of 5S and basic lean methodologies required.
  • Strong organizing, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be available to interact with all shifts (days and nights)
  • Good judgment, initiative, attention to detail, drive for change, getting organizational support, building ownership and commitment, making tough decisions, and developing others.
  • Must have knowledge of SAP.
  • Ability to engage teams and create a positive culture that delivers results.
