Division Overview – Astral
Astral Industries: Astral Industries is a premier manufacturer of high-quality steel burial caskets, offering a diverse range of products including metal, solid wood, engineered wood, veneer wood, and cremation caskets. The division is unique in its ability to purchase raw steel coils and produce finished powder-coated caskets within a single facility. Astral’s manufacturing capabilities include electro-mechanical assembly, fabrication, sheet metal forming, stamping, structural welding, and automated powder coating. The company utilizes advanced processes such as a 6-stage pre-treatment for protective coatings and fully automated powder coat lines capable of handling large parts. These capabilities ensure that Astral Industries delivers best-in-class products with exceptional consistency and quality.
Position Overview
This position will ensure the shipping and/or receiving docks are organized, while managing, maintaining, and ensuring correct inventory. This position is also responsible for ensuring all shipped and/or received burial caskets, and related products or items that are loaded/unloaded meet quality expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure that all caskets are properly inspected and prepared before shipment
• Responsible for general personal appearance, upkeep of all equipment, and facilities. This includes general housekeeping of the facility, sweeping, emptying trash, etc.
• Organize trailers according to layout given, need the ability to recognize, by sight, the different casket models and variations, understand the operation of handheld scanners for inventory purposes.
• Follow the delivery schedule set by the warehouse manager and deliver caskets ensure caskets required for the day’s shipments are correctly labeled and the paperwork is complete and accurate.
• Unload & receive casket replenishment inventory trucks/trailers from suppliers.
• Consider safety first and comply with PPE requirements.
• Complete all necessary and required training in a timely manner as assigned.
• Other misc. duties as assigned by the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor.

Education

• High School, GED, or equivalent is preferred

Experience

• Experience in working in a warehouse setting.
• Experience in the funeral services industry is a plus.
