SHIPPING & RECEIVING CLERK

LOCATION: Brampton, Ontario BUSINESS UNIT: Crane Pumps & Systems
DEPARTMENT: Shipping-Receiving SEGMENT: Process Flow Technologies
REPORTS TO: Operations Supervisor JOB REV DATE: 1.15.2025

BASIC FUNCTION:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented shipping & receiving clerk to join our team in the warehouse environment. Working closely with the operations supervisor, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the following: Pick and consolidate product and prepare goods for shipment. Record shipment data including weight, dimensions and freight charges. Receive and unpack materials and supplies. Report damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement and record-keeping purposes. Complete shipping and receiving reports on time and error free.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Fork-Lift License preferred.
  • Proficient experience with ERP/Shipping software preferred
  • Must have shipping and receiving experience 3-6 years
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English
  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills
  • Thrives working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Move material throughout the plant by hand, pallet jack and/or forklift to pull or put away stock and complete sales orders to meet customer demand.
  • Understands and performs the job by following specified processes, procedures and work instructions
  • Support freight and courier shipment processes by picking, packaging, and labelling products.
  • Monitors daily metrics and provides analysis on identified issues
  • Processes “Will Call” orders for customer pick-up
  • Collaborates with Operations Supervisor on system, work processes and employee relations issues
  • Trains new associates on company and department policies and procedures and provides feedback to Management
  • Monitors employee compliance regarding safety, shipping processes and company policies
  • Review daily save searches to make sure that all orders are shipped as scheduled
  • Correct fulfillment quantities to match work order quantities
  • Investigate and fix issues with item receipts or put away
  • Maintains adequate shipping supplies
  • Process orders and invoices to CP&S customers.
  • Create Bill of Lading for each shipment utilizing shipping software.
  • Coordinate pickup of freight with freight carriers and/or ensure parcel shipments are completed to meet deadlines.
  • Maintains a positive and collaborative relationship with all departments by encouraging teamwork among all employees
  • Work closely with customer service, customers and forwarders
  • Assists in developing a safety conscious team and ensures that safety practices are followed
  • Assist Operations Supervisor in developing efficient processes to ensure timely receipts and shipments
  • Established goals and targets in conjunction with management and works towards improvements
  • Respond to quality issues by utilizing preventative and corrective action process
  • Update performance metrics for respective areas to meet visual management standards.
