Description
Description The Shipping & Receiving Clerk plays a key role in coordinating inbound and outbound shipments to and from facilities. This position ensures the accurate processing of all necessary paperwork, serving as the liaison between carriers, customer service representatives, operations, and management. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for maintaining organized and efficient shipment processing to meet deadlines and operational goals. Summary of Essential Job Functions Receive, organize, and distribute inbound/outbound paperwork via email or hand delivery. Schedule inbound and outbound order activities both internally and with external carriers. Manage drivers at entry/exit points (gate or window) and verify paperwork and seals before releasing containers. Ensure all documentation is checked, scanned, closed, and properly delivered. Handle inbound phone and email communications related to shipping and receiving. Complete required UPS/FedEx forms. Monitor and secure gate access to the facility. Validate container and booking accuracy to ensure correct volumes in and out. Conduct and reconcile yard checks as required. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by site leadership. Requirements Required Skills and Qualifications Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills. Highly accountable, responsible, and reliable. Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision. Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail. Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong decision-making abilities. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Prior experience in shipping & receiving required. Dispatch experience in the transportation industry is a plus. Previous experience with an independent contractor fleet preferred but not required. Commitment to workplace safety; compliance with all safety procedures is essential. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Capable of working independently or under direct supervision. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required within specific facilities.
