SHIPPING SUPERVISOR (3RD SHIFT)

JOB SUMMARY

McKee Foods is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to join our Shipping team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the workforce in line within McKee Foods company mission and goals. Key duties include maintaining Warehouse Management System, providing strong leadership in safety and sanitation areas, and coordinating inventory needs with production, scheduling, and logistics group.

  • Work as a Shipping Natural Management Team Member to achieve department/plant goals
  • Supervise Load Team members, Shipping Resource Operators and ensure the day-to-day operations of the department on 3rd shift
  • Serve as liaison between Shipping and other departments to ensure support and resolve issues
  • Supervise team to include conducting employee assessments, monitoring employee training (Qualtrax and Workday), review time cards, schedule appropriately and manage employee PTO
  • Serve on project teams
  • Lead Accident investigation teams for Fork Lift accidents and other safety incidents
  • Monitor fork lift fleet and communicate needed repairs to service providers
  • Ensure processes provide uninterrupted supply of material to production while maintaining an accurate accounting of inventory
  • Serve as a source of technical expertise for work team members
  • Utilize standard work and leader standard work
  • Support and motivate others to engage in McKee Operating System (MOS) initiatives; ensure employees complete ongoing training and participate in lean initiatives
  • Manage with the goal of maximizing work efforts and efficiency while minimizing waste and downtime
  • Facilitate the growth and development of employees’ knowledge and expertise in the areas of safety, production, quality specifications, GMPs, MOS, teamwork, decision making and problem solving
  • Supporting and communicating McKee Foods Policies, Guiding Values and procedures when and where necessary
  • Lead team, improvement and safety meetings
  • Conduct inspections and audits
  • Willing to work all shifts and cross shifts
  • Must be willing and able to take additional training as necessary, travel, work long hours, Saturday nights and different shifts with little notice
  • Coordinate the activities of lift truck operators, freight truck spotters, and utility people to ensure the completion of all in and out-bound loads by established times
  • Meet departmental goals relating to safety, cost, quality, and customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated commitment to McKee Foods’ objectives and guiding values
  • 1 - 2 years post high school education, or proven outstanding ability
  • Minimum of three years shipping, receiving or related logistics experience
  • Ability to apply team oriented principles with meaningful measurements
  • Demonstrate analytical problem solving, good decision making skill
  • Excellent listening and effective oral and written communication skills, with an ability to plan/organize/follow through and translate knowledge to individuals and groups
  • Demonstrates leadership ability, conscientious, tactful, discreet, confidential, inquisitive, flexible, patient and dependable

  • Ability to effectively train and teach team members

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience in Collegedale Shipping, including knowledge of current equipment and processes
  • Working knowledge of MSS (McKee Sanitation System)
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience supervising warehouse operations
