JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shipping Supervisor to lead our shipping department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the daily operations of
shipping, receiving and outdoor storage areas. Responsible for customer shipments, product returns, incoming materials and inventory. The supervisor is also responsible for storage of containers, pallets and the packaging area while leading the shipping team directing staff and managing shift and overtime coverage

EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Minimum Grade 12
  • 5-10 years experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing and shipping environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with shipping software/ IMS and ERP systems is an asset.
  • Forklift certification is preferred
  • Strong understanding of logistics, shipping regulations, and transportation

Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily shipping activities to ensure efficient operations and adherence to company policies.
  • Manage a team of shipping staff, providing training, support, and performance evaluations.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance shipping processes and reduce costs.
  • Completes pick list for preparing shipments.
  • Identifies potential shortage issues 24-48 hours prior
  • Creates Bills of Lading. Customs paperwork as required and sends ASN’s on shipment.
  • Copies and distributes required paperwork to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in directing trucking, and flow of parts through the plant.
  • Directs loading and unloading of trucks, including loading as required.
  • Conducts housekeeping and safety audits on personnel and within department.
  • When needed, assists with coverage for booking expedited freight.
  • As necessary and required, communicate with customers and customs.
  • Conducts after-hours communication as needed.
  • Directs shipping, receiving and outdoor personnel
  • Responsible to have flow in and out of the departments to production
  • As needed, contacts carriers and arranges shipments and deliveries.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, able to crouch, bend and kneel, as well as capable of heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Manufacturing plant environment, with frequent exposure to moving equipment, noise, and temperature variations.
  • Requires standing, walking, and lifting materials up to 30 lbs.
