What You’ll Do:
- Ensure quick picks and special orders are completed and paperwork completed to meet scheduled pick ups.
- Keep completed staged orders segregated and clearly marked so that orders do not get loaded in the wrong truck.
- Manage your direct reports work, including training, coaching, discipline and break coverage.
- Completing Dangerous Goods manifests and Waybills accurately and ensuring pick tickets are with the correct Shipment and the correct placards are displayed on the trucks.
- Digitally file copies of BOL for common carriers along with any other documentation that went with the shipment.
- Ensure trucks are loaded in the most cost-effective way without the opportunity to damage the goods in transit, EI Max the cubic space but do not top load heavy items on crushable goods.
- Ensure all skids are clearly labelled on all four sides with the Store number, name and 1 of.
- Ensure specials are labeled and clearly identified on the shipments.
- Update and e-mail the skid count spreadsheet when the truck departs with a skid count expected to arrive at the stores.
- Track, investigate and correct miss shipped skids.
- Report any issues with the condition of the trucks being loaded to the HD Fleet Manager and the Outbound Warehouse Manager.
- Look for any unsafe practices or work areas and report them to a Safety Committee member.
- Maintain clear communication with truck drivers and common carriers to ensure all logistics processes run smoothly and address any concerns or issues in real time.
- Regularly inspect packed goods for potential quality issues, such as damage or improper labeling, and address any deficiencies before shipping.
- Arrange for the shipping of Canada-bound vendor returns and coordinate the loading of U.S.-bound shipments, ensuring all related documents are promptly submitted to Inventory Team.
- Implement KPIs to measure the efficiency of Shipping team’s performance.
- Identify areas of inefficiency in the loading, and shipment, and suggest improvements to optimize workflow and reduce operational costs.
- Keep current with product knowledge on fragile goods, weights, and packaging.
