Description
We are seeking a Shipyard Foreman who will be responsible for supervising daily shipyard and port-related operations, ensuring maintenance, repair, loading/unloading, and vessel support activities are completed safely, efficiently, and according to operational schedules. The role includes coordinating work crews, equipment, and materials while ensuring compliance with port regulations, marine safety standards, and company procedures. Key Responsibilities Supervise daily shipyard and port operations, including vessel maintenance, repair works, and marine support activities. Coordinate with port authorities, vessel crews, and terminal operations for smooth workflow. Plan, assign, and monitor tasks for technicians, welders, riggers, mechanics, and dock workers. Ensure timely completion of ship repair, maintenance, fabrication, and docking activities. Monitor cargo handling, lifting operations, and equipment usage within the shipyard area. Supervise and lead shipyard crews and subcontractors. Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety briefings. Ensure workers follow operational instructions and safety procedures. Monitor worker performance, discipline, and attendance. Oversee the use of cranes, forklifts, lifting equipment, and shipyard machinery. Ensure equipment is inspected and maintained according to operational requirements. Coordinate with maintenance teams to repair faulty equipment. Requirements Diploma or technical certification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Shipbuilding, or related field preferred. Minimum 7–10 years of experience in shipyard or port operations. At least 3–5 years in a supervisory or foreman role. Experience in vessel repair, dry docking, cargo operations, or marine maintenance. Port safety training or marine safety certification Lifting & rigging training First Aid / HSE certification Any port authority or marine operations training Strong knowledge of shipyard operations and port logistics Leadership and team supervision skills Understanding of marine safety standards and ship repair processes Ability to coordinate multiple work crews and tasks simultaneously Good communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work under tight operational schedules
