JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Shop Assistant who can handle a variety of assignments that support Mechanics in the Rice Group Maintenance and Repair Shop.
This role performs all duties and tasks related to the delivery and pick up of parts, assisting Mechanics with repairs, yard maintenance and shop housekeeping.
This position reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager.
This role works both in the shop and out in the field; must be able to work in all weather conditions and work well in both independent and team environments.
Ensures cleanliness and organization of shop, maintenance of shop tools and equipment, loading/unloading and storage of equipment, etc.
Knowledge and ability to use various hand tools, power tools and small equipment (plate tamper, generator, water pumps etc.)
Has the utmost respect for safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and ensures any concerns are reported.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• We require a good safety record and the highest degree of dependability.
• Able to work long days, flexible work hours & weekends
• Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role (heavy lifting, bending, climbing, working at heights)
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Demonstrates superior time management skills
• Exhibits strong teamwork, verbal and written skills
• Ability to work safely in a fast pace environment
• Must speak fluent English
