JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a caring and reliable Shop Floor Assistant to join our busy Post Office and retail store. Our shop is at the heart of the local community, with many of our customers being senior citizens who value courtesy, patience, and respect. Your role will be to provide excellent customer service, keep the shop floor well presented, and support day-to-day operations.

SKILLS

  • Strong communication skills in English; multilingual or bilingual abilities (particularly in Spanish) are highly desirable.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and stock management.
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills to maintain a tidy and efficient workspace.
  • Experience in merchandising to create attractive product displays.

  • Greeting and assisting customers with warmth and respect, especially senior citizens and vulnerable customers
  • Helping customers find items, carry shopping if needed, and providing a friendly face on the shop floor

  • Handle customer inquiries and provide information about products and promotions.
  • Process transactions accurately using the till system.
  • Assisting with Post Office and till operations when required

  • Ensure that stock levels are monitored and replenished as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the shop area.
  • Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when handling customer calls.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve sales targets.
