JOB DESCRIPTION

The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shop, ensuring a high standard of organization, cleanliness, and efficiency. This role involves supervising a team of employees including maintenance personnel, groundskeepers, parts runners, and mechanics. The Shop Foreman will also be accountable for managing the company’s trucking fleet and ensuring the upkeep and orderly arrangement of the property and shop facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong background in vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Experience managing a team in a shop or fleet maintenance environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to shop staff, including maintenance workers, groundskeepers, parts personnel, and mechanics.
  • Manage the scheduling, maintenance, and repair of the company’s trucking fleet and associated equipment.
  • Develop and coordinate weekly shop workload plans based on available work hours, parts availability, job priorities, and upcoming projects.
  • Monitor the quality and efficiency of work performed by mechanics to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Supervise the daily responsibilities of the Parts Specialist to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Track tire inventory and ensure the tire management program is current and effective
  • Ensure the shop and property lots are maintained to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and organization.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to tools, equipment, and maintenance procedures, and provide relevant training to shop staff.
  • Mentor, coach, and support the professional development of team members to enhance performance and productivity.
  • Review and approve employee timecards and manage general administrative functions related to shop operations.
  • During periods of reduced supervisory demands, actively participate in hands-on repair and maintenance tasks.
