As the Shop Foreman/ Service Writer, you will be responsible for hiring, training, and supervising qualified employees to ensure company-owned/leased equipment and yard operations remains efficient and in top running condition.
You will be monitoring service quality that will provide our staff and drivers with safe and reliable equipment, helping them to deliver superior service to our customers.
We have heavy equipment onsite to support container lift and yard operations which the successful candidate will help coordinate and lead.

SERVICE WRITER EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Successful Service Writers will have a proven work experience in their industry. They will be knowledgeable enough to understand the needs of the intermodal business and pass on the information to the staff for quick service delivery. They will also have a good knowledge of computer applications to collect and record data, compile reports and process orders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years of experience in fleet maintenance management
  • A valid driver’s license - Current CDL (recommended)
  • Associate degree preferred
  • Current ASE certifications
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days and evenings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively organize and present information; ability to lead and motivate others
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge with Freightliner, Intermodal lift equipment and transloading experience a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
  • Required to wear personal protective Equipment as required.
  • Climbing - ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, ramps, etc
  • Crouching-bending body downward and forward by bending leg(s) and spine.
  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally
Responsibilities
  • Lead staff to including hiring, mentoring, scheduling, training/development, as well as offering promotion, discipline, and termination recommendations
  • Oversee routine maintenance functions to ensure equipment proficiency and the highest productivity levels
  • Support the team in overseeing insourced and outsourced equipment maintenance
  • Facilitate and assign duties to technicians and personnel as needed.
  • Ensure inventory levels and invoicing is handled correctly.
  • Review and analyze trends in equipment, parts, and technician utilization in a way that ensures the highest efficiency and productivity of the shop
  • Monitor shop for safety, service, quality, efficiency, financial controls, and maintenance compliance
  • Ensure company procedures, DOT policies and other required standard work instructions are followed
  • Technical and mechanical support when needed
  • Launch and deliver new technology to support business functions assigned
