Description

Reporting to the Fleet Coordinator, the Shop Hand plays a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the shop and yard by assisting with a variety of tasks. This includes cleaning and organizing work areas, preparing tools and equipment for use, loading and unloading materials, and helping tradespeople or mechanics as needed. Shop Hand may also perform basic repairs, handle deliveries, and ensure safety procedures are always followed. The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, the ability to work independently or in a team, and a willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Physically Fit and able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Hold a valid AB Driver’s License Class 5 or higher. Class 3 with Q-Endorsement considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Construction Equipment and Vehicles considered an asset
  • Team player attitude with the willingness to help others throughout the day
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment D&A testing.

Responsibilities
  • Strictly follow all Health and Safety protocols
  • Understand and demonstrate competence in company policies and procedures applicable to the position
  • Assist with daily shop operations, including general labor tasks and supporting team members to meet project deadlines and operational needs
  • Clean, organize, and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment; prepare tools and equipment for jobs or projects. Includes sweeping, washing floors, and maintaining general shop tidiness
  • Load, unload, handle deliveries, and manage inventory and material storage
  • Assist tradespeople or mechanics with repair and maintenance work, including performing basic repairs and preventative maintenance as directed
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures, use PPE as required, and promptly report damaged tools, equipment, or safety hazards to supervisors
  • Meet company requirements for attendance, punctuality, and maintain an acceptable Alberta driver’s license and driving record
  • Observe all traffic and safe driving rules, demonstrating ability to operate a variety of vehicles safely
  • Be prepared for long periods of standing and walking as part of the job requirements
