OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our refractory shop team as a Labourer. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks that support the overall operations of the shop. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a high level commitment to safety. As a Labourer, you will contribute to the successful completion of jobs while working collaboratively with other team members.

SKILLS

  • Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting with the ability to perform manual labour for extended periods of time.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Experience in an industrial setting an asset (not required).
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety protocols.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment is preferred (not required).
  • Ability to follow directions accurately and work effectively as part of a small team.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn new techniques or skills.

Responsibilities
  • Pouring and stripping refractory forms.
  • Rebricking ladles and other refractory vessels.
  • Assisting in the creation and installation of castables.
  • Supporting the shop team with day-to-day operation.
  • Performing manual labour tasks such as lifting, digging, and carrying materials as needed.
  • Operating basic tools and equipment safely and efficiently under supervision.
  • Following instructions from Shop Manager and contribute to team efforts in completing tasks on time.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
  • Participating in general shop maintenance programs and clean-up tasks daily.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and regulations to minimize risk of incidents.
