Sudden Service, INC (SSI) is a subsidiary of the Taylor Group of Companies, a third-generation family-owned business based in Louisville, MS since 1927. Duties/Responsibilities: Inspects equipment to determine extent of repairs needed and communicates with service advisor. Performs repairs on gasoline, diesel, and propane engines with minimal instruction. Repairs cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems using diagnostic tools. Performs preventive maintenance as needed. Assist in quoting jobs; estimating time and material needed for work. Operate equipment to troubleshoot and test as needed. Assist with cleaning and maintaining garage and surrounding areas as needed. Assists fellow mechanics and performs other reasonable duties as directed by shop lead. Understands and adheres to all safety standards. Other related duties as required by manager. Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities: Be knowledgeable with: The methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in equipment maintenance and repair. Various mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems Standard practices, tools, and equipment of mechanical trade. Principles and practices of gasoline and diesel engine repairs and maintenance. Fabricate and welding ability. Familiarity with a variety of hand and powered shop tools Occupational hazards and standard safety procedures. Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate clearly and concisely bother verbally and in writing. This job requires stooping, bending, climbing, and the capability of lifting 50 pounds. Basic customer service and computer skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently. Education and Experience: Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics, electrical, and diesel engine repair. 3 years on the job experience with repairs of large equipment. While it is not a requirement that the FSM pass the AWSD14 Welding Test, the incumbent is required to pass the tacker test. The Mechanic is encouraged to practice and improve welding skills to pass the AWSD14 Welding Test to be considered for future promotions.
