Job Title: Steel Shop Supervisor
Job Summary:

Monte Metals Inc., a service-based highway railing and miscellaneous metals manufacturer, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Steel Shop Supervisor to lead and manage our fabrication team. This position is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, ensuring production targets are met, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and supervising all shop personnel and activities.

Key Responsibilities:
· Supervise and manage all shop employees, including scheduling, task assignments, and daily production oversight.
· Provide daily updates on production progress to senior management.
· Ensure compliance with safety regulations and enforce safety protocols for all shop staff.
· Coordinate and manage shop vacation schedules and HR-related tasks.
· Train and onboard new hires; conduct performance evaluations.
· Maintain and manage inventory of welding supplies, shop tools, and consumables.
· Perform quality control (QC) on work-in-progress (WIP) and incoming materials.
· Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed for all shop equipment.
· Manage and maintain computer records, emails, Excel spreadsheets, and Word documents.
· Conduct inventory counts and report discrepancies.
· Interpret and work from blueprints using both Imperial and Metric systems of measurement.
· Troubleshoot and repair welding machines, equipment, and WIPs.

· Operate shop equipment including Hyd-Mech saws and other fabrication tools.

Qualifications & Experience:
· CWB Certified Weld Supervisor (CSA W47.1 and W47.2).
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in fitting and 10 years in welding.
· Minimum 5 years of experience managing a fabrication crew.
· Valid CWB tickets in GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, and TIG processes.
· Proficient in blueprint reading.
· Strong understanding of aluminum, steel, and stainless-steel alloys.
· Knowledge of galvanizing, powder coating, and anodizing processes.
· Familiar with common hardware and fasteners used in fabrication.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Comfortable using computers for scheduling, inventory, and communication.

· Valid driver’s license and proper means of transportation

· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work Schedule & Compensation:
Mon to Fri 6:00 am to 4 pm
Saturday as required
The supervisor is required to start 30 minutes before the shop staff.
Hours may increase as per production schedules.
Must be flexible to grow with the company
