Description Workover Solutions, Inc. is seeking a skilled Carbide Repair Technician to support the assembly, refurbishment, and maintenance of carbide mills within our growing downhole tools business line. The Carbide Repair Technician will be responsible for managing the repair and rebuild process for carbide mills used in drilling operations. This role requires precision, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented shop environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with carbide cutting structures, welding processes, hardfacing applications, and mill body restoration. Requirements · 5+ years of carbide mill repair, rebuild, or related downhole tool experience\ · Proficiency in hardfacing application and carbide insert installation · Experience with brazing or welding processes used in carbide tool repair · Familiarity with grinding, machining, and surface preparation equipment · Rigging and lifting experience including safe use of cranes and hoists · Experience operating forklifts/lift trucks · Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and attention to detail · Effective written and verbal communication skills Roles and Responsibilities · The Carbide Repair Technician will be responsible for performing all steps in the repair and rebuild process including but not limited to: · Incoming inspection of used carbide mills sent in for repair · Removal of worn carbide structures and preparation of mill bodies · Application and repair of hardfacing materials · Installation and brazing/welding of new carbide inserts or cutting structures · Operation of shop equipment including washing, sandblasting, grinding, and machining tools · MIG or TIG welding of mill bodies, blades, and structural components · Listing and documenting all mill components, cutting structures, and wear items requiring dressing or replacement · Final cleanup, coating, and packaging of completed carbide mills · Monitoring shop inventory and communicating material needs to support production
Responsibilities
The technician is responsible for the full repair and rebuild process of carbide mills, including inspection, removal of worn structures, and installation of new inserts. They also operate shop equipment for cleaning and machining while documenting all components and managing inventory.
