  • Trade qualification with time served diesel mechanic preferred
  • Open Manual Drivers Licence
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid & Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Working at heights (desirable)
  • Working in confined spaces (desirable)
  • Forklift Licence (desirable)

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to Maintenance Manager Operations, the Shore Based Engineer assists in the mechanical & electrical maintenance of vessels, pontoon, vehicles, tenders, outboards, air-conditioning, refrigeration, lighting, davits and lifting systems. Follow scheduled maintenance programs, completing servicing as outlined and recording details for administration purposes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Diagnose system problems if, and when they occur
  • Accurately maintain logs and work orders through to job completion and sign off
  • Adherence with SOPS, Marine Memos, operation procedures and WHS requirements
  • Following the scheduled maintenance program for all mechanical, electrical, air control, safety equipment on a regular basis on the vessels, tenders, pontoon, etc.
  • Maintenance of main and auxiliary engines, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic cylinders (rams), water pumps, electric generators, lights, navigation system, ventilation systems, under water running gear and any other mechanical, hydraulic, electrical gear on board
  • Maintenance of emergency generations, emergency steering and firefighting systems to ensure compliance in line with legislation.
  • Fault finding and additional repairs.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE / BE

  • Maintain high levels of marine safety and compliance – Ensure all training and certificates are up to date
  • Always maintain a thorough and complete onboard engineers log after completion on any job
  • Take proactive remedial action to maintain systems and operation effectiveness
  • Safety first and be risk adverse
  • Interactive use of HELM (Asset Management System) and timely upkeep of maintenance requests
  • Clean and tidy in all aspects
  • Proactive in finding and remedying any onboard issues with the vessels
