Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Shucker to prepare and serve fresh shellfish, including oysters, clams, and mussels, in a fast-paced food service environment. The Shucker is responsible for safely opening shellfish, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Shuck oysters, clams, mussels, and other shellfish accurately and efficiently * Inspect shellfish for freshness and quality before service * Properly present shellfish according to restaurant standards * Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary shucking station * Follow food safety, health, and sanitation regulations at all times * Safely handle and store shellfish to prevent cross-contamination * Assist with inventory, restocking, and ice preparation as needed * Communicate with kitchen and front-of-house staff during service QUALIFICATIONS * Prior shucking experience preferred but not required (training may be provided) * Knowledge of shellfish varieties and proper handling techniques is a plus * Strong attention to detail and consistency * Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment * Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Ability to stand for extended periods * Manual dexterity and hand strength required * Ability to lift up to 40 pounds * Comfortable working with sharp tools and cold, wet conditions SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENT * Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays * Restaurant, raw bar, or seafood service environment
