Job Details Job Location: NC - High Point (1) - High Point, NC 27260 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: None Travel Percentage: Up to 50% Job Shift: First Shift Job Category: Transportation SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer and/or bobtail truck in accordance with state laws ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain the dock area making sure it is clean with sweeping and blowing them out. During downtime, assist shipping department in sweeping out trailers. Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and it is the correct load before leaving. Verify count while truck is being unloaded, per procedures. Transport load by required route to proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to shipping office as required. Complete daily timecard, driver logs, and all other work reports accurately and in a timely manner. Report any maintenance items to supervision immediately. Be proactive in the maintenance of the truck and trailers. Any issues with equipment in off hours should be reporting to supervisor and garage mechanics and call made to Lift One Service at 336-294-4177. If Switcher is not available, must use available tractor truck to perform all responsibilities of position. Switcher must be relieved by oncoming shift Switcher or instructed by the shipping supervisor before they leave work. Switcher is responsible for handling instructions from shipping supervisor. Frequent sitting for extended periods of time. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment can be loud, at times. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, or vibrations.
