Job DetailsJob Location: Ventura, CA 93003Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Not SpecifiedSalary Range: $21.50 - $21.50 HourlyJob Shift: DayStatus: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly | Payrate: $21.50/ Hour | Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 1:30 PM - 9:30 PM (37.50 Hours/Week) Reports to: Program Manager Department: Emergency Services Region: Ventura County Job Summary: The Shuttle Driver is responsible for the transportation of guests to and from the Emergency Shelter Program. The objective of this position is to safely drive and help to maintain the shuttling vehicles associated with the program, so that guests may access and leave the site in a safe and orderly manner. In addition to driving, this position requires route planning, safety checks, and providing shelter logistics support during non-driving time. Driving, Reporting and Shelter Support Drive program vehicles in a safe and orderly manner to predetermined approved locations Checking that all safety restraints are in working order and are used correctly when needed Maintain the overall cleanliness of the vehicles Safe and appropriate use of hydraulic wheelchair lifts Typing and planning daily routes based off several possible drop-off locations Generate daily and weekly route and maintenance reports, to be turned in to management for records Meet transportation goals in a challenging and always changing atmosphere Work with a partner to see maintenance issues taken care of as needed Assist in the implementation of all shelter activities to ensure quality delivery of services, including meals, laundry, emptying trash, and overall cleanliness of the facility Miscellaneous Attend staff meetings Attend training workshops as needed Perform ad hoc projects as appointed by Supervisor QualificationsEducation and Experience A valid and up-to-date CA Class C Driver’s License is required This person must possess a clean driving record with no limitations, and must be comfortable driving large vehicles (averaging 24’ in length) with wide turning ratios Possess a high level of tolerance and understanding for individuals who are present for services with urgent multiple case management and health needs This person must be detail‐oriented and computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet-based browsers is preferred General Ability to work effectively with a diverse population; plan, organize and prioritize duties; crisis intervention as needed; clearly communicate information and instructions verbally and in written form; maintain a positive, professional and safe environment while on duty; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Dependability, responsibility, and the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully are mandatory skills Fluency in Spanish is of significant value Physical Requirements Ability to lift, pull, or push weighing up to 50 pounds Candidates should be able to remain focused and able to drive safely despite constant distractions
