Job Purpose/Description * The Supplemental Instruction Leader will serve as a role model student, facilitate Supplementary Instruction sessions and discussions, and push students to higher levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. * Subjects needed: BIO2510: Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2, BIO1125: Foundations in Biology Job Duties * Facilitate sessions (1-2 times/week) to guide students through the course content for the assigned course. * Attend lectures for the assigned course * Support faculty’s messaging and content to help students use the language of the discipline and discuss concepts in a supportive environment. * Create materials and design learning activities to reinforce course content. * Provide general academic success strategies and serve as a role model student. * Communicate clearly with the class verbally and through email.  * Attend all initial training (roughly 4 hours) and ongoing team meetings (roughly 8 hrs). * Meet regularly with faculty and the program coordinator to debrief, set goals, and plan sessions. * Complete necessary paperwork (attendance sheets, timesheet, sign-in sheets, and evaluations). * Maintain confidentiality. * Other duties may be assigned and/or necessary. Required Qualifications * Must be a current CSS student. * Federal work study eligibility is required                     * Must have mastery of a specific course (BIO2510/BIO2520 or BIO1125). * Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. * Professional poise to represent the College. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Comfort with public speaking and presenting. * Strong service orientation and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people in a friendly, professional manner. * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Job functions require sitting, standing, and walking during shifts. * Ability to perform all of the above functions during an assigned workday without significant risk of injury. Preferred Qualifications * Junior or senior status. * Students with leadership experience. * Experience providing academic support.  * Experience facilitating group activities Special Instructions to Applicants * SI Leader appointments are for one full academic year, excluding summer sessions.  * Each course listed above will have two SI leaders who collaborate to prepare and facilitate sessions. 
Responsibilities
