JOB OVERVIEW:

Ramsay Signs is seeking a talented and experienced Sign Designer to join our team in Portland, OR. This full-time, on-site role is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented designer who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and understands the unique demands of the sign industry. The right candidate excels at transforming written or verbal concepts into clear, visually impactful designs and enjoys working independently as well as collaboratively.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have 10+ years of professional electric sign design experience.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and conceptual design abilities.
  • Solid understanding of branding and layout principles.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Ability to take and apply constructive feedback effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine art, or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience with WordPress, HTML/CSS, and basic web design is a plus, but not required.
    Job Type: Full-time, nonexempt
    Pay: $28.85+ DOE
    Shift: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
    Work Location: Onsite – Portland, OR

Responsibilities
  • Create high-quality, computer-generated vinyl and full-color graphic outputs for signs, displays, and other visual media.
  • Develop visual concepts, proofs, and mockups based on client input and project specifications for internal review and client approval.
  • Prepare comprehensive illustrations, sketches, and layouts for production.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality control in design files before sending to plotters or printers.
  • Manage file preparation and handling for printing, plotting, and installation workflows.
  • Oversee and execute accurate file transfers, including FTP access and cloud-based sharing systems.
  • Maintain organized digital libraries of customer logos, branding assets, and design files.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers and production staff, to ensure brand consistency and project alignment.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and adjust priorities as needed in a fast-paced environment.
