SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 3 years of proven experience as Sign Writer
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • White Card (Construction Induction)
  • Forklift Licence and EWP (Elevated Work Platform) Licence
  • Comfortable and experienced working at heights, including ladder and platform use

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficient in vinyl printing and application
  • Skilled in CNC router and laser cutter operation
  • Broad experience in general sign making and installation
  • Competent with signage software including Easy Sign, Adobe Illustrator, and SAI
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Signlite is seeking a skilled Sign Writer to join our team on a full time basis. We are a thriving signage business in Marrickville, NSW, with over 40 years of industry presence. A can-do attitude is essential.

Our facility houses a wide array of sign-making machinery including:

  • Printer
  • Laser cutter
  • UV and 3D printer
  • CNC router
  • Letter bending machine
  • Guillotine
  • Welding equipment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consult with clients to interpret proposals, sketches, and written instructions to determine the composition and style of signage
  • Design custom signs and layouts using software such as Easy Sign, ensuring alignment with client branding and vision
  • Measure and calculate letter sizing and spacing for accurate and balanced layouts
  • Prepare various surfaces and apply background paint using brushes, sprays, or rollers depending on the application
  • Create bespoke signage artwork including wall murals, gold leaf details, vehicle graphics, and screen-printed pieces
  • Apply lettering using stencils, decals, enamel paints, and traditional hand-painting techniques
  • Select fonts, colours, and layout styles tailored to each brief and project type
  • Produce and present digital proofs for client review and approval
  • Print, cut, and apply vinyl graphics to diverse surfaces including windows, vehicles, boards, and walls
  • Operate relevant equipment such as CNC routers, digital printers, and laser cutters to support sign production
  • Apply finishing techniques using lacquers, varnishes, and specialty coatings across materials like timber, glass, metal, and plastic
  • Conduct light fabrication and assist in installing signage on-site using appropriate tools and safety measures
  • Inspect and maintain signage, including cleaning, vinyl replacement, and minor aesthetic repairs
  • Ensure all work complies with safety procedures and local signage regulations
  • Provide accurate quotes, conduct site measurements, and communicate timelines clearly to clients
