Responsibilities

WHAT’S THE ROLE?

To lead the Signal Management team within the Adverse incident & Signal Analysis team in the Patient Safety Monitoring Function. This team is responsible for vigilance signal detection, evaluation and management to ensure product safety issues and risks to public health are identified and evaluated.
Responsible for management of all signals according to relevant timeframes and business processes. Development and implementation of new methodologies for continuous improvement of our vigilance signal detection activities across medicines and medical devices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the day-to-day performance and performance management of the Signal Management Team to maintain adherence to high level targets and Agency delivery plans to ensure that all signals are progressed appropriately.

  • Responsible for leading, developing and implementing new signal detection methodologies across medicines & medical devices and harmonisation of business processes for signal management across all product types.

  • Develops specialist knowledge of signal management processes within the team to ensure the team

    is able to
    produce all work accurately and to a high standard. Responsible for prioritising work and workload fluctuations within the signal team and supporting the Head of Adverse Incidents & Signal Analysis to ensure appropriate resource is allocated across teams to effectively meet targets.

  • Responsible for ensuring continuing professional development of all staff in the Unit on new signal detection activities through the Vigilance Competency Framework and other accreditation programmes for career pathway development

  • Support Senior Managers in the Patient Safety Monitoring Function on product safety, and associated vigilance issues. Brief wider Committees regarding routine signal activities as well as emerging/high profile issues when required. Providing timely, up-to-date and relevant signal information to all stakeholders.
