Description

The successful applicant will join the newly founded West London Children’s Healthcare which is transforming care for children across North and West London.
In 2018, Imperial College Healthcare Trust, Imperial College London and Chelsea & Westminster Trust stated their intent to collaborate on the development of an integrated care system for paediatric services spanning West London.

West London Children’s Healthcare aims to unite paediatric services from across West London with hubs that link closely to support clinical care provision, research, education and training. Over 1500 staff across 4 hospital sites with a bed base of 296 will come together to deliver £100m+ paediatric services providing over 115,000 outpatient attendances and 16,000 elective procedures annually, with the aim of improving the health and well-being of the almost half a million children and young people who live in West London.

  • Organise and facilitate the delivery of the pan-London ENT simulation curriculum at the Paterson Centre in St Mary’s site, and occasionally at the anatomy lab at Charing Cross Hospital. Working closely with the simulation lead and administrative staff.
  • The post holder will be responsible, as part of the ENT team to participate in the on-call rota, attend ward round, manage emergency cases and participate in educational activities in the unit.
  • The post holder will occasionally be involved in the day-to-day running of the ENT inpatient service. This will include attending ward rounds and managing emergency cases and will have opportunities to attend theatre lists.
  • The post holder will also undertake outpatient clinics, including running the emergency clinics.
  • During their time in the ENT department, the Fellow can expect to improve their clinical and surgical skills in general ENT and other subspecialist areas to a certain extent. The post holders will be involved in Quality Improvement projects.
  • The post holder will provide high quality care to patients in ENT surgery. They are expected to:
  • Be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration.
  • Develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
  • Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care activities.
  • Involve patients in decisions about their care and respond to their views.

The Simulation Days are programmed ad-hoc and supersede any clinical duties. If Simulation Days are scheduled for a non-working day, this will be regained as time off in lieu to maintain compliance with the working time directive. The Simulation Fellow works the 15 week rolling rota with regular on call shifts
