JOB TITLE: MUSIC INSTRUCTOR (Singing instructor, specializing in unclean vocals)
JOB TYPE: Contractor: P/T, up to 5-hours to start, with opportunity to grow
PAY RATE: Commission split ($48/1-hour lesson)
REPORTS TO: Owners & Studio Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Singing Instructor will be responsible for teaching private one-on-one lessons at Pleasant Mountain Music to a variety of skill levels and age ranges. Our largest group of interested clients are new to extreme vocals, and often come from traditional singing backgrounds (rock bands, singing in choirs, or singing karaoke). We also give lessons to professional artists who are looking to develop their singing chops by adding unclean vocalisations into their skill set. Finally, there is a large ensemble room should the teacher wish to run any Master Classes or workshops throughout the year to further their students’ musicianship experience.

REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in Music Performance or Music Education
• Previous experience teaching private one-on-one lessons
• Experience using digital attendance software
• Performance experience on your primary instrument

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE THAT WILL BE BENEFICIAL TO CANDIDATES:

• Generally knowledgeable or keen interest in learning about musical instruments
• Generally knowledgeable or keen interest in learning about Vancouver’s local music scene
• Knowledge of Kiwanis Music Festival, local music festivals, battle of the band competitions, or other music programs
• Knowledge of rehearsal/audition process for securing session work
• Familiarity with Discord
• Fluency in a second language
• Playing experience and/or training on another instrument (like piano, guitar, or voice)
  Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
  Contract length: 12 months
  Pay: $48.00 per hour
  Expected hours: No less than 4 per week

• Administer lessons, generally, on a weekly basis
• Prepare lesson plans for parents/students
• Provide ongoing feedback to parents/students throughout the year on progress and/or areas of improvement
• Encourage fun and life-long musicianship in your students
• Encourage your students to participate in PMM’s semi-annual recitals and adult wine & cheese events (June & December)
• If applicable, encourage your students to participate in exams, festivals, or other performance opportunities
• Assist parents/students to secure music books and/or sheet music from time to time
