A Band 6 opportunity has arisen on Ward 31 BRI.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring Senior Staff Nurse looking to develop their management skills and undertake a Band 6 role within a busy Elderly care ward.
The successful candidate will have line management responsibility and would be expected to effectively manage people alongside training and clinical supervisory responsibilities.
The post is to support the Ward Manager and existing Sisters in the development of the ward and the delivery of excellent care to our patients.
RGN with relevant registration experience
Genuine passion in caring for older people
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in challenging circumstances
Ability to manage time
Ability to keep calm and work under pressure in a demanding area using team work

The Sister/Charge Nurse role will contribute to the operational management of a safe and quality service delivery on Ward 31 , management of the workforce, budgetary oversight, patient experience, recruitment and retention of staff and effective patient management and flow.
An important aspect of the role will be promoting a positive, supportive working environment which values and supports staff. Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential and this will need to be demonstrated at interview. Individuals should be flexible and be able to demonstrate they are an excellent role model with the ability to develop positive and professional interpersonal relationships.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate key leadership skills and evidence of professional development, as well as experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team to manage and facilitate, extremely complex discharge planning. Ward 31 is a busy 29 bedded elderly care ward which manages mainly older adults and the pre and post op care of fractured hip patients over 65. Effective and efficient patient flow is essential and your role is to provide excellent nursing care and compassion in line with the rest of the team and promoting positive patient experiences and outcomes.
You will need to have at least five years post registration experience, a teaching and assessing qualification and demonstrate a passion for working with older people.
