The Djanogly Learning Trust has an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Site Assistant and Cleaner to join our team based at Morton Primary Academy. This is a tremendous opportunity to make a difference and to be part of a dynamic and innovative staff team. The post holder is required to provide a site assistant and cleaner role, ensuring the building is open and locked up, along with routine site checks and small repairs. You will also ensure the cleaning of the school is completed, ensuring high standards of cleaning quality and safety are maintained at all times.
Hours and weeks: 15 hours per week, 1 hour 7.15 to 8.15 and 2 hours 3.30 to 5.30 Monday to Friday. Term time only (39 weeks per year) In winter situations with ice/snow, the start time may need to be earlier to allow for clearing before school. This would be paid as additional hours.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

The post holder is required to provide a site assistant and cleaner role ensuring the building is open and locked up, along with routine site checks and small repairs, as well as ensuring the cleaning of the school is completed, ensuring high standards of cleaning quality and safety are maintained

SITE ASSISTANT DUTIES

  • Ensure the security of premises and grounds including opening and locking up, responding to alarms and making the building secure.

With the support of the Office Manager, ensuring the ongoing maintenance of plant and equipment, and the buildings on site including:

  • Heating, air management and other key systems, and ensuring boilers and other key related equipment is serviced and maintained in accordance with regulations. (Annual contracts will ordinarily be put in place in agreement with the office manager/heads PA)
  • Carrying out and recording regular checks on water outlets, and other key infrastructure, as per best practice and formal Legionella Risk Assessment
  • Carrying out and recording regular checks on fire equipment as per best practice and the fire risk assessment
  • Ensuring external grounds are kept clean, tidy and safe including cutting grass, emptying litter bins, salting hard surfaces and moving snow as required
  • Completing, or as appropriate overseeing, minor building works, including obtaining quotes, securing budget sign off and ensuring safe implementation including monitoring contractors
  • Responsible for ensuring that H&S risk assessments are in place for the site and cleaning team, overseeing safe working by contractors on site and ensuring the safety of others who may be affected by activities carried out on the site. Line manager to oversee, review and support with risk assessments.
  • Arrange testing, and maintaining records to meet statutory regulations including Portable Appliance Testing, legionella, asbestos and fire checks and emergency lighting
  • Ensure supplies maintained on site are correctly labelled and stored and used in line with COSHH regulations, Line manager to oversee and review of COSHH arrangements
  • Carry out caretaking and manual handling duties as required to ensure the needs of the school are met, eg moving furniture, equipment, setting out of spaces around campus, etc.

CLEANING DUTIES

  • To carry out work cleaning duties in the school including toilets, classrooms and offices efficiently and effectively, to agreed standards within specific areas complying with Health and Safety Policy.
  • To use all materials and equipment in accordance with the Cleaning Specification and safety guidelines, and to report faulty equipment immediately to the office manager
