LEAD PRINCIPAL: ANDREW SCRUBY
We are a 11-16 academy based in the market town of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, on the eastern edge of the Erewash Valley which separates Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. We became part of the Outwood Family of Schools in 2022 and are yet to be inspected by Ofsted.
We are a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning.
We believe that learning should be both enjoyable and enriching. With a holistic view of education, we aim to create a safe and secure learning community that encourages healthy and sustainable lifestyles and empowers students to pursue career pathways they will find stimulating and deeply rewarding.
As we continue to improve and progress, help to take us to the next level.
All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.
A s the Community Executive Principal, I’m excited to share why joining our team offers a unique and rewarding experience that goes beyond working in a single school - if you choose to become a part of the team you will influence the lives of over 6,000 young people; shaping their futures by raising standards and transforming lives.
Imagine being part of a supportive network of four Outwood academies across Nottinghamshire and Sheffield, where collaboration and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. This is what it means to be part of our Outwood community, and it’s something I’m passionate about fostering in my role. Across the learning community we host joint senior team meetings, schedule regular learning walks in different schools for colleagues (at all levels), work with local businesses to secure student opportunities and enrichments and are constantly developing mechanisms for working with parents. We have fostered a culture of sharing the very best practice across the community and are committed to providing world class professional development for teaching and support staff.
With us, you will have the opportunity to:
I work closely with each academy in our community to facilitate this collaboration, ensuring that we are sharing our strengths, learning from each other, and constantly striving for improvement. This creates a truly unique and supportive environment where everyone can thrive. We also look to extend and enrich the lives of our students ensuring they too benefit from being part of a wider ‘community’ than the one in which they live.
