With a multi-million-pound investment transforming Future’s hazardous waste treatment and recovery services we currently have a vacancy for a full time, 40 hours per week, Site Chemist based in our Honiton site reporting to the Technical Operations Supervisor and supporting the Transfer Station Manager.
You will be responsible for sampling and analysis of waste streams and site products, ensuring everything is handled in strict compliance with Environment Agency regulations and site permits. As well as compliance, safety is a key element of the role of the Site Chemist, and you will be responsible for ensuring safe handling and storage of all chemicals and waste streams. You will work closely with other Site Chemists and the Site Supervisors to ensure throughput of waste in a compliant and safe manner.
You will be placed onto our Technical Competence Programme (TCP) with the opportunity of progression into various roles within the Group and in addition, you will also receive on the job training, support and guidance from our Chemists across the company who will be there to answer any questions and mentor you through your learning journey.
To apply for the role of Chemist you will ideally have a degree in Chemistry although HNC/HND candidates will be considered. Experience in the waste industry is desirable but you will be provided with full training. You should be commercially aware but also understand that compliance with strict EA and safety rules is paramount. You must be able to prioritise your workload and be a problem solver with a keen eye for detail as well as having a high level of computer literacy using Microsoft applications especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
Much of this role will be based outside. Therefore, you should enjoy and be prepared to work outside in all weathers.
