QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • HNC or Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • Experience in the Waste Management industry (preferred).
  • Proficiency in SAP systems (desirable).
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in a hazardous chemical environment, with a hands-on, practical approach.
  • Strong process leadership skills with the ability to drive and manage workflows effectively.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including executives.
  • Data-driven decision-maker with a focus on evidence-based solutions.
  • Proficient at enhancing team performance through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence.
Responsibilities

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE:

Collaborate closely with the Treatment, TFS, and Dispatch Managers to optimise business outcomes through the efficient and compliant disposal of incoming consignments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and site-specific procedures.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Ensure proper consolidation, storage, and disposal of all waste with compliant documentation (e.g., Consignment Notes, Duty of Care).
  • Maintain accurate records, including sampling results, safety checks, and dispatch details, using the SAP system.
  • Conduct waste inspections and processing in line with Sector Guidance Note 5.06 and site permits.
  • Perform waste processing tasks, including bulking, sorting, re-packing, and segregation.
  • Minimise disposal costs while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical support to staff and complete required paperwork for outgoing waste.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Report incidents and non-conformances, proposing corrective actions to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Assist in achieving overall company objectives through additional tasks as required.
