THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently seeking a Site Engineer, to join our high-performing team within Downer’s Energy & Utilities – PipeTech division , based in Eastern Creek .
This full-time, permanent role reports to the Delivery Manager and supports reactive civil works projects across the Sydney Metro with some travel to various site locations.
This position is critical to ensuring the successful scoping, coordination, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. With hybrid working available after a settling-in period, and the chance to grow your career in a fast-paced and meaningful environment, this role is a strong entry point into Downer’s civil infrastructure network.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a resourceful, well-rounded Site Engineer with excellent coordination and interpersonal skills. You’ll need to balance site work with administration in a reactive, high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with 2–3 years’ experience .
  • Exposure to civil construction or wastewater/stormwater infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills (residents, councils, clients).
  • Experience with project admin tasks (e.g. timesheets, claims, scoping notes).
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset – ready to take ownership and work independently.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily civil construction works across multiple job sites and crews.
  • Assist with preconstruction activities including scoping investigations, tender input, and site documentation.
  • Liaise with stakeholders including residents, subcontractors, and authorities to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Monitor project expenditure, review WAE drawings, and prepare handover documentation for client sign-off.
  • Contribute to compliance with Downer’s Zero Harm policies, including inspections, incident reporting, and corrective actions.
