Responsibilities

ROLE FOCUS

Provide accurate setting-out, strong quality checks, and day-to-day technical coordination so work is delivered right first time — safely, on programme, and to specification.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setting out & surveys: Set out the works using total station/GPS/levels, keep control points accurate, and record as-built information.
  • Before digging: Check utility drawings, scan the area with CAT & Genny, mark services, and brief the team before any excavation.
  • Quality checks: Follow the inspection/test plan, do pre-pour checks, manage concrete tests, check material certificates (UKCA), fix issues, and build a clear handover pack.
  • Temporary works: Support the Temporary Works lead; make sure checks and permits are in place before loading or striking temporary works.
  • Drawings & changes: Read drawings/specs, raise queries (RFIs/TQs) when something’s unclear, and keep redlines up to date for as-builts.
  • Planning & reporting: Keep a daily diary, track outputs and constraints, help with short-term plans, keep registers (RFIs/TQs/NCRs/tests) current, and flag risks early.
  • Commercial support: Measure and verify quantities and keep records to support subcontractor valuations.
  • Health, safety & environment (NI): Brief RAMS (method/safety brief), do point-of-work risk assessments, follow CDM (NI) 2016 duties, and maintain environmental controls.
