ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substation projects. Acting on behalf of the design team, you will oversee the coordination and implementation of engineering designs on site — ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with project specifications across contestable and private works up to 132kV.
This is a hands-on role based primarily on construction sites, supporting the successful execution of a portfolio of complex infrastructure projects.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading engineering input and coordination on site for HV and EHV substation projects
  • Acting as the key site contact for design-related matters, liaising between the design office, contractors, and project teams
  • Overseeing the implementation of the design packages issued for construction. The design packages include:
  • Main connection and protection single-line diagrams
  • Cable route designs and cable installation plans
  • Switchgear and transformer specifications
  • CT, VT, and battery charger sizing
  • Cable sizing and multicore termination schedules
  • Small power and lighting system layouts
  • Control room, switchroom, and substation layouts
  • Ensuring site activities align with:
  • EP engineering standards and procedures
  • UK legislation, industry standards, and client requirements
  • DNO/IDNO policies and technical specifications
  • Supporting the issue, clarification, and resolution of technical design documentation on site
  • Managing multiple live projects across various UK locations
