About the Role - Based in Greymouth Join our Road Maintenance team as a Site Engineer or Graduate Engineer working on maintenance, renewals and improvement works across the West Coast region. You will support the delivery of safe, efficient and compliant road maintenance activities, working on site with our maintenance team, contractors, traffic management crews and to ensure high-quality outcomes for road users and local communities. Key Responsibilities Plan and coordinate site activities for maintenance and renewal programmes, including daily works programming, resource allocation and sequencing to meet contract requirements and programme objectives. Supervise and inspect contractor works on site to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings and health and safety requirements; raise non-conformances and follow up corrective actions. Provide on-site technical support, interpret design and maintenance drawings, resolve minor design or construction issues and liaise with design teams or external consultants where required. Coordinate traffic management plans and work with traffic management personnel to ensure safe temporary traffic controls and minimise disruption to road users. Monitor site progress and quality, prepare daily site records, progress reports and as-built documentation; attend site meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action logs. Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies, conduct site inspections, participate in toolbox talks and promote a positive safety culture on site. Assist with tender support, cost estimating and procurement activities as required to support business needs. Skills & Experience – What You’ll Bring Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or currently studying (graduates are encouraged to apply). Previous site-based experience in road maintenance, civil construction or infrastructure delivery is preferred but not essential; graduates should demonstrate relevant academic project or work experience. Understanding of construction methods, pavement maintenance techniques, NZ standards and relevant contract forms. Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with contractors, stakeholders and internal teams. Current New Zealand driver’s licence and willingness to travel regionally and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. An effective approach to problem solving, time management and a commitment to quality and safety.
