About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Project Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of civil infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on position suited to an engineer who enjoys working both on-site and in the office, with responsibility across project planning, cost control, procurement, quality, safety, documentation and day-to-day project coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Review and interpret contracts, plans, specifications and project scopes.
• Attend project sites, coordination meetings and management meetings.
• Assist with project planning, programming, budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• Prepare project documentation, including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), work methodologies and project packs.
• Prepare and maintain WHS, Quality Assurance and Environmental documentation.
• Complete material take-offs and obtain, assess and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Prepare and raise purchase orders and assist with procurement.
• Coordinate the onboarding of plant, labour and subcontractors, including inductions and plant approvals.
• Assist with surveying and setting out works as required.
• Coordinate plant, labour, materials and subcontractors to achieve efficient project delivery.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
• Experience with sewer, water, drainage and electrical infrastructure. Sydney Water project
• experience will be highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies, project documentation and contract requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day site activities.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to project management.
• Assist with planning, scheduling and coordination of works.
• Ensure works are carried out in accordance with project drawings, specifications and relevant standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Conduct site inspections and quality checks.
• Assist with site documentation, reporting and project records.

What We’re Looking For

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience working on civil construction projects, with Sydney/NSW experience preferred.
• Experience in water, sewer, drainage or underground utility projects is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and site processes.
• Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively both on site and as part of a project team.
