Description

Northern Transportables is delivering a major modular construction build at a new mine site 380km north-east of Alice Springs, and we're looking for a hands-on Site Engineer to join the team. This is your chance to take ownership of technical engineering, quality assurance and documentation for a large-scale modular installation, while also picking up field supervision of crews and subcontractor work fronts on a remote project site.

Working closely with the Site Manager, you'll be the technical backbone of the site — keeping drawings current, driving the quality program, and making sure the works go up right the first time.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage engineering drawings, RFIs, technical queries and variations between the design team, modular manufacturer and site
  • Review shop drawings, engineering certificates and material submittals for compliance before construction
  • Implement and administer the project quality plan — ITPs, hold points, witness points and NCRs through to close-out
  • Carry out quality inspections of modular installation, structural connections and associated civil works
  • Verify setout, levels and dimensional tolerances, and inspect module receival, tie-down and connections
  • Coordinate testing, commissioning and certification through to staged handover
  • Supervise assigned crews and subcontractor work fronts — daily task coordination, pre-starts and toolbox talks
  • Maintain accurate site engineering records, registers and reporting to support programme and commercial claims

What We're Looking For

  • Available to commence 20th October 2026
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Construction Engineering (or related discipline)
  • 3–6 years' site engineering experience, ideally with modular, prefabricated or specialist construction
  • Solid background in quality management, ITP administration and NCR management
  • Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings, structural specs and modular installation documentation
  • Demonstrated experience supervising trade crews or subcontractors on construction sites
  • Proficient with document control/QA systems (SafetyCulture, Aconex, Procore or similar) and MS Office
  • Current driver's licence and Construction Induction (White Card); Working at Heights and First Aid highly regarded
  • Ready to commit to a 3 weeks on / 1 week off FIFO roster and remote site conditions

What's on Offer

  • Attractive pay rates
  • 6-month fixed-term contract with strong potential for extension
  • FIFO roster: 3 weeks on / 1 week off
  • A genuine technical ownership role on a landmark modular construction project at a new mine site
  • A team culture built on our SPARC values — Safety, Performance, Accountability, Respect and Continuous Improvement
