Our office in Kingston, ON, is looking for a Site Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to support its project site in Napanee, ON, for a period of approximately twelve months.

KEY REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Post secondary education (Degree in Management or Occupational Health & Safety) is recommended.
  • CSAO certification by the Province of Ontario.
  • CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation preferred.
  • Certified H&S trainer.
  • Current knowledge of OHSA, WSIB, Construction and Industrial Safety Regulations.
  • Current CPR and First Aid training certification.
  • WHMIS, Fall Protection/Arrest, Lock out, Confined Space, TDG training.
  • 5 – 10 years direct Safety supervisory experience.
  • Practical experience in construction site Health & Safety.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring modified work or light duty programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with WSIB adjudicators.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

Reporting to the Area Manager and the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Manager, the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing the company health and safety policies and programs, while ensuring safe working procedures on company work sites, facilities and regulatory compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement and oversee the site safety program through continuous on-site monitoring during field execution.
  • Liaise with management and workers to ensure that the highest level of due diligence is maintained.
  • Provide counsel and advice on project management on all health and safety related matters.
  • Coordinate and attend on-site health and safety meetings.
  • Provide site health and safety training, indoctrination, orientation to employees.
  • Provide WHMIS training.
  • May chair or co-chair health & safety committee.
  • Thoroughly investigate lost time accident/incident and health and safety related complaints.
  • Generate H&S statistics and provide regular reports in a prescribed format, to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
  • Perform daily observations of our project sites and assist site supervision to ensure all work activities are done safely and within legislative requirements.
  • Perform weekly documented site inspections and monthly safety audits
  • Maintain daily/weekly/monthly work activity logbooks.
  • Maintain records of all safety and site information used to provide statistics, charts, reports etc.
  • Ensure management remains aware of any potential H&S related issues that may negatively impact the business.
  • Work with management and employees to develop and implement appropriate return to work and modified work programs.
  • Maintain zero tolerance for on-the-job safety infractions.
  • Ensure responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited Environmental Health and Safety Management Program and OHSA requirements.
  • Ensure that environmental aspects within their sphere of responsibility are adhered to pursuant to ISO 14001 requirements.
