JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Industrial Engineer Technician has primary responsibility across the Value Streams and Site for KPI tracking and establishing targets annually, period, weekly and daily. This role supports development of and tracking against Value Stream and Site budget parameters including waste, labor and expenses. The IE Technician is responsible for establishing rates and conducting the rate review process and will also work closely with the CI team to use data analysis in identifying and observing continuous improvement opportunities (particularly VLiC driven) and validating results.
The IE Technician is also a member of the FI Pillar and supports continued progression in focused improvement through standards development that supports the site in delivering its master plan.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply standard methods to calculate and analyze plant performance indicators.
  • Collect and evaluate data to assess the effectiveness of projects both before and after implementation.
  • Lead initiatives focused on optimizing operations and reducing costs across a self-contained value stream.
  • Identify plant losses, top losses, and support remediation project planning and execution.
  • Measure and manage the operational and financial performance of assigned value streams.
  • Create and manage project documentation to support the approval of capital funding requests, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and goals.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive initiatives to enhance overall value stream performance.
  • Apply LEAN manufacturing approach, tools, and techniques to all industrial engineering activity. Utilize MSE tools and processes to drive simplification and standardization.
  • Conduct and coordinate studies and analyses to identify and quantify opportunities or shortfalls in value stream operational and/or direct cost financial performance.
  • Collect, analyze, and report Key Performance Indicators at value stream, facility, and enterprise level, creating and leading KPI-based action plans for performance improvement.
  • Provide analysis and data on bottleneck capacity analysis for each process function for evaluation of potential capacity constraints.
  • Conduct and coordinate studies and analyses to identify and quantify process and product quality and/or capacity constraints and opportunities to increase throughput.
  • Develop proposed equipment layouts, operational designs, and material flows, which impact direct cost elements, with a vision toward achieving plant long-term objectives. This function will require continuous interaction with the Technical and Operations groups to ensure that operational needs are given full consideration.
  • Evaluate and recommend information system needs for accumulating operational data and performing routine analysis. Interface with other groups to ensure that operational needs are addressed on a priority basis. Assure that the results can be easily understood and communicated to line associates and management in a timely manner.
  • Perform a key role in the team process of setting line performance standards, e.g., KPI’s (ATS, TRS, MFI) and line capacity impacting short- and long-term delivery of safety, quality, customer service, and cost deliverables.
  • The Site IE Technician must work directly with the Industrial Engineering Manager, Site Leadership Team, and internal and external stakeholders to both achieve and report progress against aligned objectives. External stakeholders will include leadership from both regional and global business units.
  • This role also works very closely with the Continuous Improvement Team on many priorities. This role requires a “hands on” individual who will work closely with the operations team (production and maintenance) and pursue opportunities for waste elimination utilizing various tools (ex. Time Studies).
