SITE INSPECTOR

First Nations Engineering Services Ltd. (FNESL) is a privately Indigenous owned engineering company based on the Six Nations of the Grand River in Ohsweken. FNESL provides high value Professional Engineering Services to their clients throughout Ontario. FNESL provides specialized engineering services throughout Ontario, focusing on water treatment and distribution systems, wastewater treatment, and collection systems.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing standard processes for collecting, updating, maintaining, and managing asset infrastructure information. You’ll also contribute to asset management strategies, risk assessments, and financial planning. Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage staff and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail.
  • Proven experience as a site inspector or similar role
  • Ability to prioritize workloads, planning and management skills to adhere to strict timelines.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge and ability to use PDF software.
  • Any certificates in construction Safety or Health are an asset.
  • Minimum completion of a Diploma in Engineering Design or Civil Engineering Technology.
  • C.E.T. designation is an asset.
  • 3+ years of working in a consulting engineering environment undertaking site inspection for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing documentation including daily logs, photographic records, change orders, and deficiency lists.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Desire for continued learning and innovation.
  • Focus on providing outstanding service to clients.
  • Personal vehicle and valid ‘G’ Class Ontario driver’s license and ability to travel within Ontario

Responsibilities
  • Ability to read plans, blueprints, specifications, codes, shop drawings, memos, status reports, all correspondence between the architect, engineer, testing agencies, and the contractor.
  • Monitors and reports on the contractor’s progress and problems as it relates to the job site.
  • Establish and maintain project files, submittals, daily and weekly construction reports.
  • Check and verify all materials and equipment used and stored by the contractor are in accordance with the drawings, specifications, and approvals.
  • Verify contractor follows all codes, regulations, plans, specifications, commissioning of systems, sketches, alterations, repairs, improvements, reports, change orders, and safety.
  • Monitoring of work performed on the site by conducting inspections at critical phases of construction, preparing detailed written inspection reports, identifying deficient work and the necessary follow up.
  • Follows and enforces standards and procedures, complying with regulations.
  • Ability to issue written instructions to contractors when work does not comply with the approved drawings and specifications.

Salary Range: $60,000 to $75,000 annually, however salary will be based on experience.
