QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a welder and fitter in structural steel installation, with 1-3 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • CWB all position SMAW is required.
  • Valid welding certifications (MIG, TIG, or stick welding) are an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel components, fabrication techniques, and installation methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and welding codes.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and working at heights.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing project needs.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Out-of-town (OOT) workers: Travel is required for jobs located outside the local area, with premium pay for out-of-town assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare the worksite for steel installation, including clearing debris, setting up safety barriers, and coordinating with other trades as necessary.
  • Locate, retrieve, and organize parts, tools, and equipment required for installation.
  • Lay out and position steel components according to blueprints and project specifications.
  • Perform fitting and welding tasks to assemble and secure structural steel components, ensuring compliance with welding codes and industry standards.
  • Inspect welds and finished assemblies for accuracy, quality, and structural integrity.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to execute installation work precisely.
  • Operate welding and fabrication equipment, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding tools, as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by disposing of waste materials, scrap metal, and debris properly.
  • Follow all workplace safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure a secure and hazard-free job site.
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors, engineers, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution.
