Job Title: Site Lead Carpenter

Job Purpose: The Site Lead Carpenter is responsible for the on-site execution of construction projects within the outlined schedule and to the required company quality standards. The Site Lead Carpenter will work closely with the Site Supervisor, Company Owner, and other team members and sub-trades to execute the work. The Site Lead Carpenter plays a key role in maintaining and upholding the quality of work and craftsmanship required by the company.

Responsibilities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the physical execution of assigned scopes and work alongside team members.
  • Work directly with General Carpenter(s) and provide direction and oversight in completion of tasks.
  • Ensure that job sites are kept in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
  • Assist in maintaining company vehicle(s) in presentable and organized fashion.
  • Ensure that job sites are secured when no team members or trade people are onsite.
  • Ensure that all materials and equipment are properly stored and protected.
  • Assist in maintaining up to date digital task checklists and update inventory, as required, on Trello.
  • Ensure that all safety regulations are followed and that all personnel on site are aware of the safety and site procedures.
  • Assisting in training and executing schedule as discussed with Site Supervisor and/or Company Owner.
  • Discuss course of action on all scopes of work with Site Supervisor and/or Company Owner prior to commencement.
  • Regularly update scope of work progression with Site Supervisor and/or Company Owner.
  • Relay client questions, requests, or concerns to Site Supervisor and/or Company Owner
  • Review and communicate the need for any site supplies or materials required.
  • Maintain jobsite site binder in good physical condition and communicate any necessary repairs or revisions with Office Administrator.
  • Communicate any conflicts and/or misunderstandings in given instructions before proceeding.
  • Fill in hours log with task descriptions at the end of each working day and forward the completed log to the Accounting Manager before leaving site on the last day of each working week.
  • Forward all physical and digital receipts of purchases made on company credit card to the Accounting Manager at the end of each work week.

SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities listed are in conjunction with Site Supervisor, Company Owner, and Office Administrator:

  • Assist in ensuring that all construction work is carried out in accordance with written scope of work, plans, specifications, and building codes.
  • Discuss and brainstorm best course of action on various tasks and scopes prior to starting to ensure best outcome within the given circumstances.
  • Discuss and recommend ways to improve company standards and quality of work.
  • Assist in proactively identifying potential on-site problems and scheduling conflicts.
  • Assist in resolving any disputes, problems or conflicts that arise and make recommendations for solutions.
  • Promptly communicate on-site issues and conflicts with team members and sub-trades
  • Work with Office Administrator to ensure company vehicle is up to date records (I.e., insurance slips) and scheduled maintenance and repairs.
  • Create and maintain a good working relationship with all team members, sub-trades, clients, and vendors.
