JOB PURPOSE
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the efficient flow of materials, equipment, and resources to construction sites, ensuring that projects run smoothly by coordinating logistics activities and maintaining a well-organized supply chain.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Vehicle Rental Management: Source, negotiate, and coordinate the rental of heavy vehicles and equipment required for construction projects. Maintain a record of rental agreements, including terms, conditions, and costs.
Timesheet Tracking: Implement a timesheet system for the use of heavy vehicles and equipment by construction crews. Monitor and record the hours of usage for each vehicle, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
Diesel Consumption Planning: Forecast and plan diesel consumption for all heavy vehicles and equipment on construction sites. Ensure timely refueling to prevent disruptions in construction activities.
Purchase Order Preparation (LPO): Create and manage Purchase Orders (LPO) for various logistical needs, including vehicle rentals, diesel procurement, and equipment maintenance.Coordinate with the procurement department to ensure timely purchases.
Inventory Management: Maintain an up-to-date inventory of heavy vehicles and equipment, tracking their availability and maintenance schedules.
Cost Management: Monitor and control costs associated with logistics, seeking cost-effective solutions and optimizing resource allocation.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all logistics activities adhere to safety regulations and compliance standards. Address any safety concerns promptly and implement necessary improvements.
Communication and Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, suppliers, and other relevant departments to streamline logistics operations.Provide regular updates on logistics activities and potential issues to management.
Risk Management: Identify potential logistics-related risks, such as delay or shortages, and implement mitigation strategies to prevent disruptions.
